SONIC THE HEDGEHOG: SUPER SONIC Z
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SEVEN: HYPERS UNCHAINED, PART II

“Let the party begin!” Hyperion said in delight as he rushed at Darkspine, engulfed himself in flames and did the same. Hyperion lashed with his claws, but Darkspine dodged all of the swipes and then launched fiery punches, but Hyperion dodged those as well. Both lashed again, and locked fists, now going in a power struggle.

Theia snuck up from behind and lashed from behind with her electrified whip, making Darkspin roar in pain. She then kicked him hard in the back as Hyperion was able to twist Darkspine’s arm, lift him over his head and smash him into the ground.

Theia then rushed forward and lashed with her whip, but Darkspine caught it in his hands. Theia’s eyes glowed and the whip electrified, and Darkspine was shocked, but he ignored the pain, pulled in Theia and then kicked her across the room. Hyperion moved in and lashed with his tails, but Darkspine did a backflip, then did a firing homing attack, sending him flying.

“You know that you are only a one trick super-hedgehog? All you have is fire but I control all the elements!” Hyperion said as he raised his hands and from underground spouted huge currents of water that Sonic’s actions earlier created. He turned the water into huge serpents that pounced on Darkspine and engulfed him in a bubble of water. “Fire and water makes steam, and as you know that I like things steamy. Everything I say seems to turn into a double entendre.” Hyperion then launched lightning on the watery orb, the water acting as a conduit giving Darkspine a lot of pain.

Darkspine glowed bright and vaporized the water trapping him with a huge burst. Then Darkspine was engulfed by a dark aura as his own shadow turned into a huge demonic projection and rushed at Hyperion, engulfing him in return. Darkspine then created a whole platoon of magma swords that impaled on the shadow-trapped Hyperion.

As it would seem Hyperion was turned into a pincussion, the magma swords turned into dust, courtesy of Theia who has recovered and alchemating the dust coming from the magma swords into a huge clawed crystal hand that smacked Darkspine back into the ground. The crystal hand dissolved as Darkspine almost got up, but then was barraged by a set of heat beams from Hyperion’s eyes. “Ouch…sec to recover…damn, I’ve been inside the kid’s head too long…last time heatvision didn’t hurt that much.” Hyperion growled as he rubbed his eyes.

Darkspine got up, curled into a ball, but instead of spindashing or created fire, he dashed quickly on the spot to whip up a giant tornado, after which the tornado turned into a whirlwind of shadows which sucked the both up. Darkspine then raised his hands and shot a fireball into the tornado, making it flare up in a burst of purple and blue flames.

The tornado dissolved after it had burned out, but Hyperion and Theia came out of it with minimal damage. Hyperion even had a huge grin on his face, swayed a little like he was listening to some music only he could hear as he hummed a tune that sounded a lot like Dead or Alive’s ‘You spin me right round’. “I must admit, every time we are brawling, we always get ourselves the most spectacular lightshows. Pure eyecandy.” Darkspine remained silent as he engulfed his fists in flames again. “Seriously, I’m getting tired of the silent routine. I would ask if the cat got your tongue, but since you have no mouth I assume you have no tongue either.”

Darkspine tossed a few more fireballs at Hyperion, but Theia jumped in fronts and batted them away by backhanding them. She then pointed at some nearby pillars, and they morphed into rocky tentacles with bludgeon weapons at the tip, which started to pound on Darkspine like a feral octopus if it was given clubs. After some pounding Darkspine started catching the rocky tentacles and ripping them off. But as he was distracted, Hyperion created a blast of ice that engulfed Darkspine’s head, limiting his eyesight and hearing, as well as dazing him.

“That’s what I call a brainfreeze!” Hyperion said as he then created two metal round gong-like plates, and slammed them into the sides of Darkspine, even making a gong like sound as they pounded upon him. It shattered the ice around his head, but thanks to the gongs he was still fuzzy in the head anyway. “It seems to be coming down to music with the both of us today, isn’t it? In that case, the fat lady has to sing for you, only we don’t have fat ladies, only hot smoking chicks.”

“That reminds me, when we are done with them, can I keep some of those cute Freedom Girls as toys? I feel like they make for a lot of good experimentation.” Theia asked.

“That’s nice. Let’s say we tie the bluebird and the princess together with those special straps in position forty-seven.” Hyperion said with a very perverted grin.

“We are right here, we can hear you! Don’t we get any say into this?” Amy asked annoyed.

“Lemme think…No! We’re all powerful, we can get away with it, deal with it toots.” Hyperion replied.

“You are so naught for opening that big mouth of yours to your future mistress, I’ll have to punish you real badly later…and when I’m done you’ll only beg me to punish your further.” Theia replied.

Darkspine has recomposed himself as he created two fiery whips and wrapped them around the two demented Hypers when they were distracted. He then made two columns of dark energy erupt underneath them and engulf them. But they broke free, wounded but still going. “Okay, that was just plain rude!” Hyperion said. “I was in the middle of something.”

Hyperion resumed attacks as he fired five tiny specks from each of the fingertips of his right hand, but each speck started to grow in size until each were the size of houses, and also each was a different element: magma, ice, plasma, mercury and an unknown purple energy, each of them hitting and engulfing Darkspine.

Theia then added her own power to it when she fired a green and a purple fireball from her left and right eye, as well as a dark red one from her mouth, which impacted on Darkspine, who started staggering. Then he was hit by a barrage of claw swipes from Hyperion and energy whiplashes by Theia, sending him flying across the room.

“This is no use, Darkspine is strong, but he is outnumbered two to one. He can’t fight them off by himself.” Sally said worried.

“If only someone else had the power to turn super to help him fight, but none of us can do that at the moment. We don’t have enough Emeralds or Emerald Shards for that.” Knuckles replied, also desperate for a solution.

Sally looked desperate as her husband’s alter ego was pelted with energy blasts from Hyperion and Theia. Then an idea hit her. It was a crazy idea though, but it was the only one she had. “If Hyperion can create a spouse…then maybe Darkspine can do it too.”

“Sally, you are not going to…Darkspine is maybe less vocal then Hyperion or Theia, but he is from the same caliber as them, how do you know he won’t do horrible things to you?” Nicole asked.

“Darkspine is still a part of Sonic, and I’m sure there isn’t a part of him that would hurt me. Besides, to save the man I love and everyone’s future, I have to take the risk.” Sally said as she ran at Darkspine.

Darkspine lay in front of her, battered and bruised, with several burns. He raised his empty eyes up to her, as she crouched down near him. “Sonic…Darkspine…whoever in there hears me. I want to help. I want to fight by your side, but I don’t have the means to do so. But if you are willing to lend them, I can make this a fair fight.”

“No…this curse…should only be mine to bear…” Darkspine rarely spoke, but he was serious this time as he spoke.

“I promised Sonic when I married him, in good and bad days, that we’d share the good times, but we also would help each other carrying burdens. And I don’t see how this is any different. And I’m not going to take no for an answer.” Sally added. Darkspine still look hesitant. “Please, Sonic…otherwise there will be no more future for us to have.”

Darkspine slightly looked away from her, but he relented in the end. “I must warn you, it doesn’t feel pleasant.” Darkspine said as he pulled Sally closer towards her. He rubs one of his fingers across his normally mouthless muzzle, but after he stroke his finger over, it a mouth has appeared, but only she didn’t see a tongue or teeth inside, but a swirl of dark energy.

“I’m ready.” Sally said. Hyperion and Theia were afraid of being ignored and just fired both an anergy blast at the couple. But before the attacks hit them, Darkspine then planted his newly eerie looking lips on Sally’s, and both were engulfed into a burst of purple flames and shadowy energy. The burst deflected the other two Hyper’s energy blasts and Darkspine came out all right. So did Sally, and she herself has gone through a metamorphosis of her own. Her fur was a very dark blue, the fur around her muzzle and belly a slightly lighter more greyish dark blue. Her vest has turned a very dark purple and so did her shorts and boots, and they had white lines similar to Darkspine’s markings running through them. Her hair has turned into bluish flames and like Darkspine she lacked a mouth or pupils in her eyes. She rose up, and spoke in an otherworldly, cold and emotionless tone: “I am Darkfire.”

“And I am freakin’ mad! The guy copied my shtick!” Hyperion growled in annoyance. “I am going to make it extra painful for him. Don’t know how that will be possible, but I’m sure I’ll find a way.” Hyperion said as he rushed back at Darkspine, but Darkspine got up and tackled Hyperion down in a fiery spin-dash.

Theia wanted to come to his aid, but a wall of blue flames blocked off her path. She turned around, Darkfire out with her hand raised up. “Your opponent shall be me.” She said in her monotone. She raised her hand and creates a blue fiery disc which she tossed at Theia, who sliced it in half with a whiplash.

“Fine then…you shall be the first one I’ll break down into a toy!” she said as she raised her hand, and extended her fingernails into thin, strap-like objects that tried to impale or pierce Darkfire, but she just started teleporting short distances in a flash of blue flames to avoid them, before creating a dagger of blue flames and cut them off.

“Argh! You broke my nails!” Theia whined before she growled and fired energy blasts from her mouth, which hit Darkfire and sent her flying. But she got up rather quickly, then did a weird tilt with her head, and her hair extended and swiped at Theia like a fiery whip. “Hey, I’m the only one who does the whipping!” Theia growled.

Theia raised her hands in the sky, then planted them down violently on the ground, and in a matter of seconds, the entire temple where they were fighting turned from rock into crystal, at the same time turning every Robian, Legionnaire and henchman of the villains in it, into crystal. Theia has transformed the entire complex into something to her advantage. Theia then snapped her fingers, and from the crystalline complex, long sturdy spikes started to sport from any surface and try to impale Darkfire, who barely dodged all of them. “Nothing to say before you are ending up pierced?”

“Talk if futile.” Darkfire responded as she let out a huge fiery aura to melt some spikes that tried to pierce her. She then planted her hands on the floor, and turned the formerly tael crystal the temple was now made off in an amber color. And the battlefield was back to her advantage as from everywhere in the complex, heat beams came from the wall and barraged down on Theia, who had to put up a forcefield to protect herself.

Hyperion had continued his battle with Darkspine. Hyperion had suffered some wounds in his battle, but he was still in better shape than Darkspine, who had been fighting two opponents earlier, but Darkspine still continued. “I still have the advantage here. Any last words? I know you don’t say much, but you have to make them count for something.”

“You bore me.” Darkspine growled back. Darkspine raised his hands and created a fiery tiger-like projection that attacked Hyperion, whom in return created a dragon projection of electric energy, and the two astral projections pounced, clawed and bit on one another.

“Didn’t expect those words to be your last, but ok. It perfectly describes what we think of one another, doesn’t it?” Hyperion said as he flew at Darkspine and the two became a flurry of pounds and kicks that were too fast to see by the naked eye. But unfortunately, Darkspine was slowing down. He was like said earlier still not in the best of shapes and Hyperion got a lucky shot in and punched him hard into the jaw. Meanwhile, Hyperion’s dragon projection bit the throat of Darkspine’s fiery tiger, making it fade, as it then pounced on Darkspine, exploding in a lightning burst and making Darkspine crash into the ground.

“It was fun, I really mean it, but now I have to send you to Hell. You’ll like it there, you’re used to burning anyways.” Hyperion said.

Darkspine roared as he then got up, and let out a fiery aura that was bigger then before. First, the shadows from across the room started to separate from their casters and flow into Darkspine, and then from the hole in the roof up above, a solar flare came down and entered Darkspine’s body, whose wounds healed, not completely but still to a point he was better than Hyperion. “Whoa, didn’t see that one coming.” Hyperion commented.

Darkspine then created another fiery tiger projection, this time out of white flames which pounced and slashed at Hyperion, who was getting more and more wounds, and was being pushed back by the fiery astral projection.

At the same time, Theia was being pushed back by the heat beams that Darkfire created from the invironment, and both Hyperion and Theia were back to back now. Darkfire and Darkspine both charged up a huge stream of flames. Hyperion and Theia locked arms and started spinning around quickly, making a tornado to blow the flames away. However, Darkfire and Darkspine aimed their stream of flames down the ground and they were instead sucked into the tornado, which became a fiery burst with flames of any color you can imagine.

Theia and Hyperion were still standing, but panting as the fiery burst faded. Darkfire touched the ground, and the crystalline floor between them heated up, then coiled upwards like molten glass and trapped the both of them. Darkspine then tossed a fireball, which curved to the left and slammed into them, hurting them, as it curved back to the right, into Darkfire’s direction. She caught the fireball, added her own firepower to it and repeated what Darkspine did. Darkspine and Darkfire kept passing the fireball this way, stronger and faster each time, until from above it looked like a fiery infinity symbol. The last time the fireball impacted both Hyperion and Theia were taken over in a huge burst that enveloped the entire temple...

The heroes were surprised that while the temple around them had been utterly vaporized, alongside any evil force inside, they were still ok. Probably Darkfire and Darkspine made sure their friends wouldn’t get hurt. Theia and Hyperion both lay there, exhausted, barely even able to stand. Hyperion growled in anger, and weakly said: “You are really okay to go back in the head of the hedgehog, only coming out when they need you? Why?”

Darkspine grabbed Hyperion by the arm and lifted him, meanwhile pulling out an Inhibitor Ring. “While being inside their minds, have you ever considered to just see what they saw…and see aside from the horrible, the beauty life through mortal eyes can bring?” Darkspine said as he planted the Ring on his wrist.

“Then we see things entirally different…” Hyperion growled. Darkfire approached them, Darkspine holding Hyperion in a headlock as Darkfire grabbed Hyperion’s other wrist, and planted an Inhibitor Ring on it as well. Hyperion was let go as he spazzed as he started to fade, shrinking and losing his white fur. “Why am I to live this curse, not being able to be blessed with a form of my own?”

Theia, who had been lying there, too weak to spring to his help spazzed as dark energy came out from her through her mouth and eyes and was pulled into Hyperion, and also started shrinking and losing her coloring. Both Hyperion and Theia reverted back in their original forms of Taild and Fiona, who then fainted. But Tails no longer had the huge stab wound Shellcracker had delivered him earlier.

Darkspine eyed Darkfire. “It’s time for us to go as well.” Darkspine said as he took out his own inhibitor rings.

Darkfire just nodded, her expression not changing once. Darkspine put on his rings, spazzing like Hyperion and Theia did earlier as his features faded, and Darkfire’s energy was sucked back into him, and the both of them reverted back into Sonic and Sally, the both of them also collapsing from exhaustion.

“So…this is it. Benedict is gone, Fiona is saved, we got her parents back, and we have the means to undo the Legionizing?” Lily asked surprised.

“Pretty much…” Nicole said. “But it took a lot out of them. Let’s get them to the sickbay where they can rest. Shadow also needs medical attention. Not to mention we need to use the info from Violet to save many others. But we are already down to one nightmare in our lives.”

Violet picked up her daughter gently, as André did the same for Tails. Violet had a loving look on her holographic face. “Rest well, my dear. We’re here to watch over you now…you’re home.”

Rotor and Bunnie picked up Sonic and Sally respectively and would gently carried them away as well.

“You are willing to tend to my wounds, even after the trouble I have  been causing for you?” Shadow asked.

“The world isn’t black and white…we have learned to watch in the grey in between.” Nicole said. “If someone is able to look through to you and find something good, there is no reason other shouldn’t be able to either.”

Shadow was helped stand up by Rouge, whom smiled gently, and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and helped a limping Shadow walk towards the Freedom Fighter special.

“This is odd…the Emeralds that Benedict had are nowhere to be found anymore. My scanners no longer pick up anything.” Knuckles noted.

“Mine neither.” Tori replied. “You think that what the Hypers did to the temple they got scattered again?”

“Maybe…but right now we should concern with the health of our teammates, we’ll be able to find them later. We have the tools, the skills, and the ever increasing numbers.” Nicole assured them.

Robotnik had turned tail after he saw the temple explode, not wanting to stick around to find out what would have happened afterwards. But there was still Finetivus, who had watching everything with awe from the distance. “Wonderful…it provided me with great data which should become very useful in the future.” He said as he then reached for two Emeralds in his cape. “And I also got a grand prize out of it…”

TO BE CONTINUED
I hoped to make the fight a two-parter, but I wouldn't be able to do that wihtout padding it out. I wish to have the Hypers around a little longer, but there will be other oppertunities to use them in the future, and I hope the fight scene at least kept your interests.

Next chapter will deal with recovery, Fiona rekindling some bonds and Nicole releasing the Legionnaires and several others from their curse.

Now this chapter is cool, but now Finetivus has two Emeralds.

At least Benedict's empire is toast, and Fiona is safe...
